When to Invest in Braces
If you have crooked or crowded teeth, an overbite or an underbite, you may be the perfect candidate for braces. These issues can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, earaches, headaches and TMJ. Although you can benefit from braces at any age, children between 10 and 14 years of age are at an ideal time for teeth correction since the mouth is still growing.
Types of Braces
There are typically three types of braces that are available to patients. Traditional metal or plastic brackets are bonded to the teeth and are attached to wires that straighten your smile. Lingual (concealed) braces refer to brackets that are attached to the back of the teeth. Finally, plastic aligners include a series of clear, customised plastic trays that are changed every few weeks.
